Iainism: Happy Birthday, Jesus

At the dinner table tonight we were discussing Christmas and why we celebrate Christmas. Keep in mind we just celebrated Simon's birthday over the weekend (and yes, I realize I haven't blogged about that - I'll get to it when I can).

Mama: Did you know that when we celebrate Christmas we're celebrating Jesus' birthday?
Iain: Yes! And I will make him a cake, and take it to him in heaven, and we will eat it and sing "Happy Birthday!"

Simon - Day 365

Simon is 1! I can't believe an entire year has gone by. Crazy!

The birthday boy got a sippy cup and some board books, and chocolate chip muffins for breakfast (I had to work, so we had a breakfast celebration rather than cake later in the day).

And today we went up to the Festival of Lights at the temple - which was so much fun. Here's the best picture of the night:

It's birthday time again

Okay, so Iain is now 2 years and one week old, rather than two years on the dot, but hey - life happens. Last Saturday was Russell and Iain's birthday and we had tons of fun. Several friends came over, we had cake, there was new tricycle to ride, and new trucks to play with.

Happy Birthday Russell and Iain!

So let's just pretend that it's still last Friday, and that I was actually prompt about putting this up. Anyway, we had a crazy good time last week. My sister and her family were here for about 5 days and last Saturday we had a birthday party with lots of friends (you can see some pictures from that if you look here). While they were here we also went to the zoo and the monuments and saw the last of the cherry blossoms down near the Tidal Basin and ate Ethiopian food, Spanish food, and the yummiest hamburgers in DC. And Iain got to play with his cousin Conrad a lot. I wish I had the video of them taking a bath together because it was hilarious. I got drenched. It was fun.
